Exclusive Excerpt:

No touching. No flirting. No taking her clothes off and dancing for me—though that’s still at the top of my fantasy chart. I wish I could say that now that she’s wearing professional clothing and is out of club makeup, she’s become ugly or unappealing. That now that we’re less adversarial and more professionally friendly, she’s become boring. She’s none of those things. It’s all just added layers I’m dying to peel back and explore. Then she decided to wear this fucking dress. I swear, she did it on purpose just to mess with me. This girl is a punch to the gut. A visceral reaction. Someone you feel and see. It’s what made me watch her that first night at the club. It’s what had me staring at her as I left and made me approach her in the supermarket. It’s what had me mindlessly letting her dance and grind against me when I knew better. Even now, with her as my employee and Conti silently lurking, hidden in the shadows, I can’t find it in me to regret it. Who are you, Isabel? Are you lost and in need of finding? Or are you the wolf, masquerading as a sheep? “We’re going to a meeting,” is my only reply as I type on my phone. Her eyes are trained straight ahead, as if she’s afraid to so much as glance out the window. She lets out a nervous giggle. She doesn’t laugh very often, at least not genuinely. This odd sound coming from her lips is no exception. “Oh. So you’re finally trusting me with those?” Not even a little, but I didn’t want her hanging around the office so douchey McMorgan could get his slimy, nepotistic, intern rich-boy hands on her. Morgan Fair Senior has been with Turner Hotels forever, long before Jake’s dad died and left him the company. He’s not a bad guy, all things considered. He really runs the operations for the company, even though my title is now COO. I hate that side of things, which is why I think Jake promoted me. Just to piss me off. I like technology. I like security. I like surveillance. And I most definitely like the dirtiness that comes with running all that for hotels and casinos. I think that’s why Morgan Fair Senior and I still get along as well as we do. But his kid can suck it. Especially if he’s trying to make babies with my assistant. “We’ll see how it goes,” I tell her, my eyes still locked on my phone. “Since we’re talking about it, did you dance for Morgan Fair Junior Dick when he came into the club?” Isabel shifts away from me, looking out the window, but I swear I catch a hint of a smirk before she does. “Would it bother you if I said yes?” Like a motherfucker. “Why would it bother me?” “Why did you ask?” Because I’m insanely jealous. Duh. I shrug indifferently as I finish up the email I’m not really paying attention to, then tuck my phone back in my pocket. “Just wondering if I’m going to have to kill him and ruin my relationship with his father, is all. It’s not good for business to have your interns see your employees naked.” “You saw me naked.” “Mostly naked,” I correct with a raised eyebrow. “And I’m not an intern. I’m the boss.” She makes some kind of snorting sound, crossing her legs at the knee and shifting once more in her seat. Every freaking time she does that, I’m assaulted with a blast of her scent. It’s sweet and floral and spicy and so goddamn good, my stupid dick perks up with every inhale. Not only that, the insanely short hem of her dress hikes up as if to say, yes, my legs are delicious. Would you like a bite of my inner thigh? “That’s worse, you realize.” “Probably.”

Title: Wolf by Bella Love-Wins

I found her so she's mine.
Thorne Pierce
They call me the Hunter;
A cold-hearted predator with the killer instinct.
A deadly threat to anyone who becomes my prey.

I'm pulled off of an existing job to watch a new target and her grandmother until I'm issued the order. I see her for the first time from the edge of the woods. Rose Adams. Silky red hair flowing down past her waist, soft curves, a sassy mouth, and that body that's made for sin.

I tell myself shes just another target, but I'm dead wrong.
Little Red beats me at my own game.
She sets her sights on me and everything changes.
I shouldn't feel a thing. Haven't for years.
But I do.

When it's time to finish the job, I take her and we run.
Forget the rules; I'm going to follow the only law that matters.
The law of the wild: Possess my prey.

Author's Note: Wolf is a Standalone Romance with a guaranteed HEA ending and no Cliffhanger. Each story in the Tall, Dark and Dangerous Series can be read in any order.

“Let me go right this instant!” I scream, struggling to break free. “Or just kill me right now, because if you don’t, I’ll be the one after you, you big bastard.”
“If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn’t need to watch you for days or weeks before I actually do it. You’d be six feet under a week ago, long before you had a chance to figure out that I’m watching you.”
He wedges me against the wall with the weight of his body, and his free hand runs slowly up my arm.
“Stop that right now!” I shout.
Ignoring me, his hand moves up from the curve of my hips and past my waist. “Fuck, all these curves in this tiny body are enough to make me want to do more than just this weapons pat-down,” he whispers at the whorl of my ear. He stops over my breasts, massaging the flesh for a moment before slipping his hand past my collarbone and across my neck.
“Please stop,” I say as his straying hand comes to rest with his fingers buried in my long hair. This time I’m begging, but I hear the weakness of my voice and can’t help but become angry at myself. His touch ignites my body, sending heat and need to places I’ve never known could feel this hot.
“Make me,” he dares, and tugs my hair back, immobilizing my head, probably so I don’t reverse head-butt him in the face. I feel his lips at my ear and his hard cock at my back, and when his hips rock forward, I know it’s intentional, to make me fear for what he’ll do next, to show me that I’m at his mercy.
Reaching back with my arms, I catch fistfuls of his shirt and try to move him away, but it only makes him lean more of his body weight into me. I use one foot to back-kick his shins, but it’s no use. I have zero leverage.
“If you’re not going to kill me, let me go,” I ask again. A faint whiff of his woodsy cologne hits my nostrils, and I swear my body reacts with a tremor. Then I feel his mouth at my earlobe. He tugs the flesh with his teeth, and his lips slide down to my neck, sucking one spot so hard I’m sure it’ll leave a mark. I curse myself as my hips push back into him, getting a firmer feel of his dick on me. I want to resist. I want to fight with everything in me, but I have to admit, I also want to stay and find out what else he’ll do to my body. I should be ashamed for feeling this way about the man who’s been shadowing me all week. I just can’t help it.
“I’ll let you go, Little Red,” he growls. “But just remember. You might’ve found me, but I’m the one who marked you. Be grateful that I don’t follow my urge to fuck the fight out of you. Right here against this wall.”

Review

This was a short quick action packed read. I read this in 2 hours, and wasn't bored once, which is how I read it so fast. Since its shorter there is instalove, and that isn't for everyone, but I really enjoyed the flow. The suspense and action were awesome, it was a nail biter for sure. This is told in dual pov.

I love reading and writing steamy, high-action romance stories about firefighters, billionaires, and alpha males who know what they want and aren't afraid of laying claim to the women who catch their interest. Title: Midnight Show
Author: Mira Day
Genre: Suspense
Release Date: July 18, 2017

“Oh be still my beating heart!! Ms Day you did a number on it and I thank you for that.” - Cranky - The Book Curmudgeon
“This is a must read for lovers of dark stories, and I am in awe of this talented author’s work. Brilliant work Mira!!” - Wendy’s Book Blog
“This book was killer. Quick but killer. It dealt with some dark topics. Heck I didn't see half the twists that this story threw at me till it was too late. Please have some tissues when reading this story. Big high five to Mira Day” - Brandi on Goodreads

My Jenny.
Best friends since we were five years old. She was there for me when I lost my mom. There for me when my dad used me as a punching bag. She was my rock and I needed her more than she ever knew.
It's been so long since I've seen her. So long since I've held her hand and felt her heartbeat nearly in sync with my own. She came back for me; my rock, to help me bury the man who shaped who I've become.
But she didn't come alone.
I was used to losing parents, but losing Jenny? To him? No. She's MY Jenny.
Michael pours me another glass of bourbon. Its burn is nothing compared to the tortured world inside my mind.
"We'll make sure she never leaves us...ever again."
I nod my head as the room goes dark.
I can keep a secret.
“So, how did your date go the other night?” She takes a swig of beer and turns to look me in the eyes. Her baby blues are bright against the dark bar background, the neon lights enhancing everything.
I shrug. “Meh. She was a bit boring.”
“Jesus, I swear. If it’s not one thing it’s another.” Jenny kicks my bar stool, laughing. I love it when she laughs. Her whole chest heaves and it’s hard not to pay attention to that. “So what made her so boring?”
I lock my eyes on hers and take a pull from my beer.
She’s not you.
Swallowing, I lick my lips. “I don’t know. She just didn’t keep my interest.”
“You still slept with her though, didn’t you?”

Is that a glimmer of disappointment I see? Damn it, why does she have to know me well enough to know that?

I give her a sly smile and she punches me in the arm. “You dog! Sounds like she kept your interest peaked just long enough.”
“Well, with tits the size of melons,” I hold my hands out, “it’s hard not to be a little interested.” I instantly hate myself for saying that to her.

Way to go, Genius. Right before you confess your undying love to a girl, tell her about the sex you just had the other night. Smooth.

Luckily, my Jenny knows me. She gives me a scoff before taking another drink. I focus on her lips wrapped around the bottle. The way her throat moves as the liquid makes its way down. My dick twitches, and I shift in my seat to ease the sudden confines of my pants. Jesus, what she does to me.
“Jenny, I need-”
I hear her phone ring, and she holds her hand up. “Hold that thought, B. Hello?” She starts to slide off the stool. “Hey sweetie! Let me go outside.” She beams at me as she leaves.
I place my head in my hands, gripping my hair. Someone sets a shot in front of me, and Andy’s gravelly voice breaks into my thoughts. “You alright?”
“Fuck.” I slam the shot down and motion for another. “No dude. I’m not.”
Andy sets the next shot down and leans against the bar. “You need to man up. Quit being a bitch.” He raises his eyebrow as he pushes off, smirking.
“Pfft.”

Smug asshole.

“Sorry!” Jenny gives me her breathy apology as she climbs back on her stool beside me. Her hand touches my back to brace herself, and leg brushing against mine. Her touch sets my body on fire, as my eyes drawn to the hint of cleavage she’s showing.
“That was Ronnie. He’s stopping by.”
I stare into the second shot glass. “Fuck Ronnie.”
I want to immediately regret my words. I want to take them back and do this differently. But I don’t. I don’t regret saying what I said. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch her reaction.
“What the hell, Brandon?” She narrows her eyes. “I thought you liked Ronnie.”

What is wrong with me?

“I can’t do this anymore, Jenny.” I don’t even recognize my voice. It’s deeper, with a touch of anger that I wish I could hide. I pour the second shot of bourbon down my throat, enjoying the burn.
“Do what?”
I inhale deeply. It’s now or never. “Jenny. I love you.”
Her brows furrow together. “I love you too, Brandon.”
“No.” I drink from my beer, my hands starting to shake. I set the bottle down. “Like, I’m in love with you.”
