After Still Beating, you would think I would know better than to go into this book without a box of tissue. I'm not a crier during books, I can usually hold myself together. This book had me crying from the second chapter until the damn end of the book. Did I expect it to hurt? Yes, did I also stay up reading to finish the book until 2am? Also yes. (mama didn't raise a quitter) This book will wreck you, and if it doesn't, you might want to see if you have a pulse.
I wanted to devour this book, but I was also afraid of this book. Look, if I have snot bubbles flowing by chapter 2, I know I am in for a ride. I have never FELT such raw emotions for characters before, the angst is literally off the charts. There are little lulls, kinda to gather yourself back up, because just when you think it's safe to put the tissue away, BAMMMMMMMM. naw girl, gotta get a new box.
The characters are perfection, simply perfection, the raw emotions, both good and bad, the world building is perfect, but my lord, who hurt you woman? I have read my share of angsty books, but nothing can touch this book. If you like slow burns, and I do mean slow, and angst ridden emotionally driven books, this one, told in multiple POV is for you. Now excuse me while I go make a therapy appointment, because.....damn.
