As with any Jay McLean book, I knew there would be angst. I knew that my poor heart would be put through the wringer. But nothing could prepare me for this one. Leo kicked off a powerful coming of age love story that had my heart aching and racing while sitting on the edge of my seat with my emotions churning. Mia and Leo's story completely ripped my heart in two before it was painstakingly put back together again.

Mia has never known love other than from her grandfather. Her dad is out of the picture, and she only sees her mom during the summers at the Preston house. Her mother is a nanny there, but she dotes on the Preston children rather than her own. The only thing that makes life bearable there is her sweet friendship with Leo. But all too soon, that turned to dust - until years later when their paths crossed again.

I don't want to say too much more about Mia and Leo's story, but I will say that this is a story that made me feel. My emotions were all over the place, just as McLean had intended, with all of the ups and downs of this couple's story. Both of the characters are imperfect and flawed, but their friendship and romance was so beautiful. I simply could not get enough. All of the stars and more for this amazing story that I couldn't put down!

Such an amazing angst filled ride. This book is nothing short of fantastic. I was so happy to read this book, as I love this author. This book follows Leo and Mia, star crossed lovers who met as young teenagers. There was so much back story, you really get an in depth feeling for this characters.
The world of the Preston’s is one that you never want to leave. Do they have issues? Heck yes, tons, do they love hard? Heck yes. The issues and the love are abound in this book. Mia is such a strong female lead, and Leo is perfect for her. These two characters are simply perfect. Told in dual POV, it doesn’t get better.

Review:

Holy darkness! No pun intended. This book is pretty dang dark and man, did I enjoy it. The story continues as the characters try to exact revenge. Will they get it? Read it an find out. The character development continues in this book, as we learn more and more about them.

The world the author created in my mind is very dark, gothic, almost depressing. The characters still have battles of the will, and the twists and turns you don’t see coming. This book kept me reading until all hours, and while I may be exhausted this book is well worth it.
