Review: Under Locke

Another awesome book by Mariana Zapata. This book centers around Iris(Ritz) and Dex Locke. Dex is part of a MC called the Widows, he also happens to own a tattoo shop. Upon her brothers request, Dex gives Iris a job assisting in his shop. Iris having gone through way to much in her short life, is uptight, and a tattoo shop is NOT her idea of a good place to work, she is more along the lines of working in a daycare. She takes the job because it was there or a strip club.
The characters are quirky, and most of all, I laughed out loud at some of the things in the book, like Iris' knack for calling out "that's what she said" almost like it's some sort of sick impulse. Over time Dex and Iris fall in love with each other, and Iris grows some balls. I loved the deep development that these characters had, and think that this story was well thought out.

Mariana Zapata-Wait For It

Such a great book, the sequel to the Wall of Winnipeg, this book follows Vanessa's best friend Diana. Diana has been there, done that and has the t-shirt. She is fiesty, and bossy, and will do what it takes to take care of her nephews. She moves across the street from what seems to be the Oscar the grouch of the block. His name is Dallas...and they live in Austin Texas. Dallas, is the perfect match for Diana, he is easy going and laid back. I don't want to give too much away, as I hate spoilers. I love this authors writing, because even though it is romance, it's not all sex, sex, sex. She sets the story, develops the characters, and lets them set the pace. I absolutely love that. This book gets 2 thumbs up from me.

This book is quirky, funny, and I really hope to see more of the secondary characters in their own books, perhaps Tripp.

Mariana Zapata-The Wall of Winnipeg

I have the very best book hangover. This book is everything a book should be, in my opinion. Aiden and Vanessa(Van) and perfectly mismatched in the best way. It's starts off with her working as a personal assistant to Aiden who plays for the NFO(fictional NFL) He is from Canada, hence the nickname, "The wall of Winnipeg". Vanessa gets tired of being taken for granted and decides she is going to quit and be her own boss with her fancy(an expensive) Graphic design degree. Once she leaves, Aiden refuses to accept the fact that she left. He proposes a bargin that will get him out of a jam. I won't say more about that because it will give away the whole plot. These characters are well thought out, and I really didn't want the story to end. I give the book 2 thumbs up for sure, and will be recommending it to anyone that will listen.
